Dholera - SIR
The Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) is a visionary greenfield industrial smart city located approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Ahmedabad. Designed to become India’s leading hub for manufacturing, technology, and large-scale industrial development, DSIR is widely recognized as Dholera Smart City. The project was initiated under the Gujarat Special Investment Region Act of 2009, through which the Government of Gujarat established a strong legislative foundation along with the DSIR Development Authority (DSIRDA) to oversee its planning, development, and governance.
To execute this ambitious, future-forward initiative, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) was formed through a partnership between the Central Government (NICDC Trust) and the State Government of Gujarat (DSIRDA). This collaborative structure ensures that DSIR receives unified planning, world-class infrastructure, and efficient project implementation.
Strategically located among major industrial cities such as Ahmedabad, Baroda, Rajkot, and Bhavnagar, Dholera Smart City offers exceptional convenience for industries and businesses. Spread across 22 villages covering nearly 920 square kilometers in the Dholera Taluka of Ahmedabad district, the region is envisioned as a self-sustaining economic ecosystem, where industrial growth is supported by superior utilities, logistics networks, and social infrastructure.
